Drug Drop Off
Days: Monday - Friday
Time: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Where: 525 East F Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643
The purpose of this program is to develop and implement a process by which citizens can properly and safely dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medications. The improper disposal of unused prescription medications has become an important public health issue in our community.
When not properly disposed, unused prescription medications can eventually fall into the wrong hands, becoming subject to abuse, illegal resale, accidental poisoning, etc. Improperly disposing medications have also proven to be an environmental hazard by showing up in our drinking water.
The Elizabethton Police Department will work to foster an environment in which medications can be easily and conveniently disposed of in a safe and proper manner. A variety of outreach initiative to include brochures, public service announcement, and web-based advertisement, print and broadcast media, community partnerships (e.g. Carter County Anti-Drug Coalition), and other community awareness efforts will serve as the foundation for success of the program.
