Blue Shift Battalion Chief, Todd Montgomery has been a member of the Elizabethton Fire Department since 1992. BN. Chief Montgomery previously spent 9 years as a Shift Sergeant before being promoted to Shift Captain in 2012. The rank of Shift Captain was officially changed to Battalion Chief in August of 2016. BN. Chief Montgomery transferred to EFD from the Elizabethton Police Department where he served 3 years as a Patrolman. Before coming to work for the City of Elizabethton, BN. Chief Montgomery worked as an EMT for the Carter County Rescue Squad.
Blue Shift Lieutenant, Andy Wetzel joined the Elizabethton Fire Department in 1998 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in August of 2016. Lieutenant Wetzel, who came to EFD with no prior Emergency Services experience, earned his B.S. in Education from ETSU and worked as a Teacher/Coach for the Elizabethton City School System prior to coming to work for EFD. Lieutenant Wetzel became a Military Serviceman in 1991 and currently serves as a Military Reservist. Lieutenant Wetzel is also a small business owner within the community.
Blue Shift Sergeant, Russell Hodge has been a member of the Elizabethton Fire Department since 1997 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 2016. Sergeant Hodge came to EFD with no prior Emergency Services experience, having spent the previous 5 years employed by the Elizabethton City School System.
