The Annual Tweetsie Trail Treasure Trip
2017 marks the third year of this popular event sponsored by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department. Each year join us the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend to kick off an event that highlights the treasures of Elizabethton along the Tweetsie Trail. The event takes place on the portion of the trail from Sycamore Shoals State Park to Downtown Elizabethton.
Participants are encouraged to walk, ride, run or roll along the Tweetsie Trail to enjoy and participate in highlighting this treasure that runs through Elizabethton. A special section of the trail from Sycamore Shoals State Park to Downtown Elizabethton will feature area businesses and churches set up along the way giving refreshments, swag and registering participants for grand prizes. Each booth will have one grand prize to be raffled off during the Celebration event later in the day.
Also featured along this special section of the trail are the Golden Depots. These five special tents highlight the treasures of Elizabethton in the areas of History, Education, Recreation, Tourism and Downtown. Participants are encouraged to pick up a passport at the first stop (History, located on the Tweetsie Trail across from Sycamore Shoals State Park) and with each stop within these special depots collect a stamp to be entered for the overall grand prize during the Celebration later in the day.
The event ends at Covered Bridge Park with a community celebration. This community party will feature live music, inflatables, balloon animals, a dunk tank, food for purchase and our grand prize giveaways from each tent set up earlier in the day on the trail and the overall grand prize for the Tweetsie Trail Treasure Trip.
If you would like more information about this event, if your business would like to set up and participate, or if you would like to donate prizes please call the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department at (423)547-6441.
