Community Outreach
The MS4 program's intent, in Elizabethton, is to improve the water quality of all creeks and their tributaries, and to heighten public awareness of the importance of water quality. Under the City of Elizabethton's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program the city is obligated to provide public education and outreach presentations in order to get the community involved and informed. The city distributes materials on water quality to schools, adults, developers, and commercial and industrial users. The city also provides an opportunity for the public to get involved and establish stream clean-up groups, tree planting days and volunteer monitoring for illicit discharges.
