City Councilman Richard Sammons
Richard Sammons was elected to his first term on Elizabethton City
Council in November of 2000. He compiled the second highest vote total
of the three at-large candidates selected by Elizabethton voters.
A lifelong Elizabethton resident, Sammons earned a degree in political
science from East Tennessee State University. He is a certified public
accountant and president of Sammons Restaurants Inc., in Elizabethton.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Sammons has practiced public accountancy
since 1973.
He has served on the board of directors for the East Tennessee
Christian Home and First Christian Church. He is also a member of
several state and national CPA organizations.
Sammons and his wife Doris Phillips Sammons reside at 2310 Armor Drive
in Elizabethton. The couple have two adult daughters, Debra and Denise.
