Stormwater
The City of Elizabethton operates a federally mandated stormwater quality program. The purpose of the program is to prevent pollution of rainwater runoff. Examples of pollution sources include parking lot and street runoff, construction project runoff, illegal dumping of motor oil and trash, etc. into stormwater drains. An important part of this program is to ensure that new residential, commercial and industrial developments will have a minimum effect on water quality. The end goal of this program is to make sure that our rivers, streams and lakes are preserved for enjoyment by future generations.
Please see the links below for the City's mandatory annual stormwater report to the State of Tennessee, as well as necessary support and informational documents.
Readers will note that the City responded to several compliance questions with "No" answers. The reason for this is that the report covers five (5) program years. A negative answer may indicate that the report item was not due in the latest reporting year. Please see the link for the City's Notice of Intent (NOI). The NOI contains the compliance target dates for the entire five year span of the City's presently approved stormwater quality program. This document will help the public to better understand the report responses.
Please contact Joseph Barnett or Johann Coetzee for information regarding the annual report. Contact information is shown elsewhere on this page.
The Stormwater Program is controlled by the following ordinances:
