Christmas at Covered Bridge Park, Christmas parade bring out large crowd in downtown Elizabethton
A nice evening welcomed a large group of visitors downtown on Saturday, Dec. 9 for the annual Christmas parade and Christmas at Covered Bridge Park.
The Christmas parade sponsored by Main Street Elizabethton and themed "Season of Lights" was one of the largest ever as bands, floats, dancers, and Santa Claus showed up for an almost two hour parade.
Elizabethton's Park and Recreation Department served as the Grand Marshal for this year's parade.
Meanwhile, Christmas at Covered Bridge Park hosted by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department was a warm up for those who wanted to come early and enjoy ice skating at Skate by the Doe and a warm cup of hot chocolate served up by Park & Rec.
It was a great evening for everyone as evidenced by the squeals and smiles on kid and adult faces as well.
Winners in the float categories were as follows:
-
Lynn Valley Baptist Church - First place
-
New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church - Second place
-
Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church - Third place
